The Rotary Club of Corringham Thameside

Following the “B” team’s defeat at the hands of the Rotary Club of Rochford last week, The “A” team took on the might of Billericay Mayflower for the right to progress to round two of the District 1240 Darts competition.
Corringham Thamesdie was represented by Terry Finnegan, Peter Matthews, Brian Price and David Fenn. In the singles, Peter Matthews went down 2-1 to his opponent, as did David Fenn in his game. Brian and Terry faired better by both taking their ties, leaving the match evenly balanced for the pairs. Again, Peter and David lost 2-1 after a tight game, and Brian and Terry could not hold on to their opponents in the final game.
The evening was enjoyed by all who took part and we wish Billericay Mayflower all the best in the next round.
For the record it is of interest to note that Brian Price was playing with darts that could only be described as ancient, possibly from a far forgotten age. This was matched by his technique which left the walls vibrating each time his dart landed. Despite all the leg pulling Brian did at least take one of his games, which is more than could be said of some of the other members of the team. Forever a good sport, Terry has christened Brian the “Zulu Boy”. I think it might take him some time to live that one down !!
