Stroke Awareness

Published by admin at 11:06 am under Stroke Awareness

Stroke is one of the biggest causes of death and severe adult disability in England & Wales. Over 130,000 people in the U.K suffer first strokes each year. People with high blood pressure have up to 7 times greater chance of stroke than those with normal blood pressure but a number of simple life changes can help to reduce the risk of suffering a stroke.
It is estimated that 4 out of 10 deaths due to stroke could have been prevented if high blood pressure had been diagnosed and properly controlled.
The Rotary Club of Corringham Thameside, along with other Rotary Clubs in the U.K, are organizing free blood pressure checks by qualified medical staff. These will be arranged in church halls, community centres and other suitable locations. The aim is to ensure as many people as possible are given the opportunity to have their blood pressure checked and for them to consider whether they wish to seek further medical advice and make lifestyle changes.
We will make an announcement when we have a date & location for this important event.
