Fishing Day 2008

We will be holding our annual Fishing Day for handicapped and under-priviledged children on Sunday 13th July 2008. The club will again be inviting a number of children from local schools and Special Needs Activity Clubs to spend an afternoon fishing at a private lake in South Ockendon. Each of the children, accompanied by a parent or carer will be aided by a member of the Jubilee Fishing Club, who will provide all the necessary equpment.
The Rotary Club will ensure that there is a constant supply of hot dogs and hamburgers as well as soft drinks. Each child will receive a trophy to remember their experience, with special awards for the most fish caught and of course the biggest fish landed.
This event has been organised by the Rotary Club of Corringham Thameside for more than twelve years.

ANNUAL FISHING DAY

Published by admin under Charity Fishing Day

Every year we combine with a local fishing club who kindly donate their 012-1507.gif002-1507.giftime and facilities to give children with special needs and learning difficulties a whole day fishing. They have the exclusive use of the ‘fishermens’ private lake and one to one assistance from the members.
We provide free food and drinks all day from the BBQ. With awards for Biggest Fish, Most Fish Caught and many more, the club makes sure that every child receives some award at the end of the day.

The children are invited from our local schools, this year all the pupils were from Treetops School.
Many children return each year with comments such as “It’s the best day I’ve ever had”, “It’s the first time I’ve ever won anything in my life”. Parents have also seen the benefit of these days as some of the children have taken up fishing as a regular hobby.
We thank the members of the fishing club for donating a Fishing rod as the prize for the ‘Biggest Fish’.
Also thanks to the fishermen for their continued support and time, without them this valuable day would not be possible.
