The current RSL (Restrictive Service Licence) for Gateway F.M expired on the 26th December 2007 which allows them to broadcast over the “air waves”.
Gateway F.M are hoping to obtain a full 5 year licence very soon, but, in the meantime you can still hear the station online at www.gatewayfm.com .
“Gateway to Jazz” proved to be popular during the RSL, with all kinda of jazz included in the programme. I hope to broadcast again very soon.
In the meantime, I have been invited to give a talk at Ongar Rotary Club on the 28th February on the orgins and early days of jazz. I understand that members of the Ongar Jazz Club have also been invited along.

The Rotary Club of Corringham Thameside supports Gateway F.M by presenting a weekly programme of jazz which is introduced by Rotarian David Fenn. The programme seeks to introduce the listener to all types of jazz whether it be traditional New Orleans style, Chicago, Swing, Mainstream, Boogie Woogie, Bebop, Modern or jazz/rock fusion.
It is music to suit all tastes, coupled with news of local jazz clubs and events. We hope to showcase some of the talented musicians that ply their trade locally and even those who do it just for fun. The programme is full of stories and anecdotes about the bands and musicians but above all there is lots of varied music.
The 2 hour programme, entitled “Gateway to Jazz” is broadcast on Wednesday evenings at 9pm. Tune in on 87.7 F.M or on-line at www.gatewayfm.com to hear the brighter sounds of jazz !
