GIVE-A-CAN NETS 1727 CANS.

Our annual Give-A-Can appeal at Morrison’s store in Corringham was held on Saturday 3rd December and the generousity of customers netted a magnificent 1727 cans of food which were passed on to the Salvation Army for distribution to the homeless and others in need.
The club would like to thank the customers of Morrison’s who so freely contributed in these difficult times. We would also like to thank the management and staff of Morrison’s, without whose help and co-operation the event could not have taken place. Our thanks too, to the Salvation Army who collected the cans of food and who will distribute them to those in need.

Success Despite The Snow

Published by admin under ALL LATEST NEWS,Give-a-Can

Despite the ravages of the cold weather , we managed to complete our annual GIVE-A-CAN appeal at Morrison’s store in Corringham on Saturday 4th December 2010. Thanks to the generosity of the customers we collected a total of 1567 cans of food for the homeless. The figure was a little down on last year but considering the weather conditions we were well pleased. The management and staff of Morrison’s also donated a generous contribution to our total and we are most grateful for this and their kind co-operation in allowing us to collect at the store. It is much appreciated. Our thanks too, to the Salvation Army who collected the goods for distribution to those who need them most.

Give-A-Can breaks record

Published by admin under ALL LATEST NEWS,Give-a-Can

This year’s “Give-A-Can” collection was held on Saturday 5th December at Morrison’s store in Corringham. It was our first time working with Morrison’s, and the support we received could not have been better.
The rotarians, working in shifts, asked shoppers to donate a can of food which would be donated to the homeless and needy by the Salvation Army. The response could hardly have been better. The number of cans donated was 1678, that was over 10% up on last year’s total and a new record for the collection.
The club would like to place on record their sincere thanks to all the members of the public who gave so generously in these hard times. We would also like to thank the management and staff of Morrison’s without whose help the event could not have taken place. And last but by no means least we would like to thank the Salvation Army for taking charge of the donated cans and ensuring that they go to those who have hit hard times in this festive season.
In addition to the “Give-A-Can” appeal, the club made a street collection in Corringham town centre in aid of Rotary charities which raised a creditable £316.34. We would like to thank all those who gave so generously to support the work of Rotary in our community.

Give-a-Can – Collected over 1500 cans !!

Published by admin under ALL LATEST NEWS,Give-a-Can

This year’s “Give-A-Can” appeal was an outstanding success.
As customers arrived at the Somerfield’s store in Corringham they were greeted by a Rotarian who would hand them their basket and ask them to donate a can of food for the homeless. As they left the store they would hand their donation to other Rotarians who of course thanked them.
The store did their bit by making in store announcements and had even made display stacks of tins with Give-A-Can point of sale material. We were rewarded by collecting a massive 1528 cans which were handed over to the Salvation Army for distribution. So successful was the day, that the Salvation Army van was only just able to cope with the load.
The Rotary Club of Corringham Thameside would like to place on record their sincere thanks to all those who so generously contributed. We would also like to thank the management and staff of the Somerfield’s store whose efforts and co-operation made the event so successful. We would also like to thank the Salvation Army for undertaking the task of ensuring that the goods reach those in most need of them this Christmas.
