A Win For Everyone At Billericay Christmas Market

Published by admin under ALL LATEST NEWS

On Sunday 5th December, eleven club members gave of their time to stand in the cold to man our “ORIGINAL FRUIT MACHINE” game at the Billericay Christmas Market. We set up shop in the High Street and hawked our game to the many passers by, who were clearly amused by the concept and of course, the updated “cranked lever” designed and manufactured by new boy Albert. When pulling the lever, it gave out a loud cranking noise before the three (cold) hands produced the fruit. The many smiles of the onlookers gave us much encouragement and the children enjoyed the experience, especially as they always won. After a couple of hours, some of the fruit that appeared had been partly devoured by the operators who continually complained they were hungry. This added to the fun, and before long each winner received a large cheer from those watching. We raised over a hundred pounds for Rotary charities and we sent out the message that Rotary is FUN!.
A big thank you to all who supported us.

Success Despite The Snow

Published by admin under ALL LATEST NEWS,Give-a-Can

Despite the ravages of the cold weather , we managed to complete our annual GIVE-A-CAN appeal at Morrison’s store in Corringham on Saturday 4th December 2010. Thanks to the generosity of the customers we collected a total of 1567 cans of food for the homeless. The figure was a little down on last year but considering the weather conditions we were well pleased. The management and staff of Morrison’s also donated a generous contribution to our total and we are most grateful for this and their kind co-operation in allowing us to collect at the store. It is much appreciated. Our thanks too, to the Salvation Army who collected the goods for distribution to those who need them most.
